Professor Saito is a internationally leading philosopher of education. She has written on a wide range of philosophical issues in education such as autobiography, translation, cosmopolitan education, trans- and cross-cultural education, with a focus on American philosophy, including philosophers such as Dewey, Emerson, Thoreau and Cavell.
Among her publications we find books such as The Gleam of Light: Moral Perfectionism and Education in Dewey and Emerson (2005), Stanley Cavell and the Education for Grownups (2012, w. Paul Standish), Education and the Kyoto School of Philosophy, (2012, w. Paul Standish) as well as over forty articles.
Professor Saito is currently Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Education, Kyoto University and Visiting Fellow at Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies.
This is a joint event between the Department of Child and Youth Studies and the Deportment of Education, Stockholm University.
