  • Naoko Saito’s invited talk at Åbo Akademi University (Monday, April 20, 2015)

 

Naoko Saito gave an invited talk, “Stanley Cavell and the Cultivation of Political Emotions,” at Åbo Akademi University on Monday, April 20, 2015 (18:15 – 20:00). She was hosted by Professor Martin Gustafson at the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts, Psychology and Theology (http://www.abo.fi/fakultet/filosofi). Åbo Akademi University is located in Åbo (Turku in Finnish) on the south west coast of Finland and in Vasa (Fi. Vaasa). It is the only Swedish language university in Finland.

Professor Martin Gustafsson is Chair and Professor of Philosophy at Åbo Akademi University. Professor Gustafsson's most important areas of specialization are the philosophy of language and the philosophy of action. He is particularly interested in the intersection between them – that is, in questions of how human language and action are interwoven and how those complex connections are crucial to meaning and intentionality. His research interests also include the history of analytic philosophy, the philosophy of logic, philosophical methodology, and the philosophy of the human sciences. He has published articles on Anscombe, Austin, Berkeley, Cavell, Davidson, Hacking, Heidegger, McDowell, Quine, Rawls, Sellars, Travis and Wittgenstein.
